As I was planning how to go about loosing weight and the diet I would follow to do that I had a few points that mattered to me:
1. I didn’t want to go hungry nor starve
2. The food will have to taste good
3. The ingredients would have to be fine, healthy and easy to use/prepare
4. I didn’t want to exercise
5. My goal weight was 75kg
I had also learned from my previous attempts to loose weight and knew what traps I could fall in. For instance I came to realize that I was a sugar addict and my new diet would of course have to take that into account. I also knew that once I start to eating candies and cakes I won’t settle for one piece or few pieces for that matter. I would finish the entire box or plate.
Obviously my enemy were the carbohydrates in all that candy and sweets I consumed. But a lot came also from fruit juices, wrong timing of fruit consumption. Wrong fruits would also make my blood sugar skyrocket or plummet and those would have to be exchanged.
So I made my own diet based upon the ideas from Atkins, GI (Glycaemic Index) and “The Stone Age diet”. The food would have to contain a lot of proteins and much less carbohydrates. Sufficient amount of healthy fats as well as all needed vitamins and minerals would also make the list. Liquid was an important part too and I opted for still water (no bubbles) and sometimes lemonade (without sugar of course). I was to continue to drink coffee (no sugar there either) but not milk. However yogurt was fine as long as it didn’t contain sugar nor aspartame. Seeds won’t make the list but nuts (especially almonds) were to become one of my favourites. Often I would aslo eat raw food.
I guess you could call my diet “Haris’ diet” and you wouldn’t be wrong since I later realized that what I was doing was to make my own diet in the process. In my next post I will publish an extensive list of the ingredients that I considered eatable. Later on I will also provide you with the recipes for different dishes
